Tanzania (05-2009)
From 25 April - 9 May 2009 Steef made a trip to Kigoma, Tanzania, to teach missions at a newly starting Bethany Missions School, called 'Lake Tanganyika Christian College'. He had been invited by his colleagues Nathan Rasmussen (USA, with whoe family he stayed) and Walumona Luke (DRC), both working in Tanzania. The latter is the Principal of the school. Steef worked with them earlier, in February 2008, in Burundi and Rwanda. The new school in Kigoma started with 10 students. Situated at the east side of Lake Tanganyika, the greater Kigoma area boasts the site where Livingstone and Stanley met in 1871.
The photo of a mosque shows that I'lam is very present in Tanzania.
The first week Steef taught his course 'Introduction to Missions', but his course 'Theology of Missions', planned for the 2nd week could not take place because Steef was hit by a heavy bout of flu. He recovered sufficiently, just in time, to be able to travel back on the planned date. The students hope he will still return before the academic year is over, but this seems unlikely to happen....
